Begun in 1990 and supported entirely by public and private sector grants, the Dance Exposure Project is an effort to provide a comprehensive dance education program within the Stamford, Norwalk, Bridgeport and Danbury school districts. Dance Exposure Project Scholarships provide tuition free dance training to under-privileged youth who have demonstrated talent. Students are encouraged to participate through annual outreach auditions and satellite classes by Connecticut Ballet instructors in local elementary schools. Artistic Director Brett Raphael and the Director of Education nominate individual students for the scholarships after consultation with school administrators. Emphasis is placed on serving at-risk youngsters who would not otherwise be able to afford accelerated training in their field of study. With support of local corporations and foundations, we offer foundational and accelerated training to qualifying students ages 9-18. Students attend year-long or summer intensive classes at our affiliated school, Connecticut Ballet Center.
